The Cerus Quartet—2025 CAG Louis and Susan Meisel Competition Winners, Fischoff Gold Medalists, and recipients of the inaugural Bohemians Artist Residency & Robert A. Levinson and Patricia S. Levinson Arts Achievement Award, administered by The New York Community Trust—presents [Program Title], a journey through fiery dances and passion that reveals the saxophone quartet’s beauty and expressive depth in classical music.

Dedicated to artist development, the Levinson Award provided Cerus with a performance wardrobe, a fully branded photo shoot with Dario Acosta, a styling consultation with Fiona Smart, an audio recording and music video shoots with Four/Ten Media, culminating in their March 18th residency performance.

Their program opens with Schubring’s Extrovert, a burst of contemporary American energy, before diving into Piazzolla’s sultry Argentinian tango Milonga del Ángel. Iturralde’s vibrant Pequeña Czarda and Perez-Villegas’ innovative Sólo el misterio bring Spanish dance to life, followed by Laganella’s Leafless Trees, a haunting soundscape. The program culminates in Mendelssohn’s String Quartet No. 6, transcribed to showcase the saxophone’s passion and dynamic versatility in the classical canon.
