William Grant Still’s Mother and Child reflects the gift and responsibility of nurturing life, and Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson’s arrangement of Amazing Grace calls us to remember our shared humanity. The program culminates in the world premiere of Tyler Taylor’s new Flute Concerto: Waves of Voices, a tribute to the persistent justice embodied by L. Alex Wilson—Adam W. Sadberry’s grandfather and a celebrated journalist honored at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture.
